Save chair with good bones!!!
From fit for rubbish ...
...to fit for a mansion!

I found these chairs by my mom's and they both appeared to have good bones but the upholstery was horrible ( they were literally fit for the rubbish!) I took a look and the one on the right was broken. I didn't feel like wasting time on trying to replace the wood, so I took it to where it had to go. I decided to keep the one on the left, strip off the many layers of an ugly espresso stain and varnish with an environmentally friendly paint and varnish remover , and reupholster it. It took months of pain-staking work and LOTS of patience, especially since I could only dedicate about 45minutes or so every month. The beauty I found under the stain and varnish! I initially decided to keep it the color of it's natual mohogany but I changed my mind (naturally) after an inspiring move. I painted the chair with an environmentally-friendly satin black wood paint that finishes as a beautiful low gloss stain. Then I used one of my upholstery fabrics. For the back piece I embroydered the fabric with black to give it a bit of zest and to add some color. It's a nice surprise when you see the back of the chair. I had to paint that table (natural solid pine) too!
